Crestview started as farmland at the edge of town. Much of it was a dairy, and when the land was subdivided after World War II, the new streets filled quickly with modest ranch houses for returning veterans and young families. Justin Lane, the neighborhood's southern edge, was named for the developer's wife.
Seventy years on, the bones are the same: broad streets, deep front yards, and trees that have had decades to grow. Most of the original houses are single-story ranches on generous lots, and plenty of the people living in them have been here a long time.
It's also a neighborhood in transition. Houses built within a few short years are reaching the end of their lives at about the same time, so new homes are appearing between the originals. The best of them fit the street they're on.
